In a video, Janja speaks English and confuses “citizens” with “citizens”
In a video published on her social networks, First Lady Rosângela Silva, known as Janja, sends a message to the public of Global Citizen Festivalwhich took place in New York. In the publication, Janja appears speaking excerpts in English but makes a grammatical error in Portuguese and says “citizens” instead of “citizens”, the correct term for the word.
“Hello, global citizens. I’m not there with you today, but I am here, in Central Park, to make an important call to citizens global”, says Janja in the recording. Although the video’s subtitle uses the correct use of the plural of citizen, the word citizensit is possible to hear that the first lady makes the grammatical error.
Still in the video, Janja draws attention to the Global Alliance Against Hunger, an initiative launched by the Lula government during Brazil’s presidency of the G20. The program will be officially launched in November, during the group’s leaders’ summit and proposes the creation of an organization that raises money from countries to invest in initiatives to combat hunger and poverty.
“The Alliance is a transformative initiative that will connect successful public policies to combat hunger and poverty, and sources of public and private financing, transforming realities around the world. Ending hunger and poverty is everyone’s responsibility of us, also encouraged governments and private funds from rich countries to invest in the Alliance’s basket of public policies”, said Janja.
The first lady also extends an invitation to COP 30, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which Brazil will host in 2025, in Belém (PA). “People from all over the world will debate the future of the planet in that ancestral territory,” she said in reference to the Amazon.
“Take action to end poverty now and to combat climate change. This is the call for transformation towards a more just, supportive and sustainable world. Enjoy the festival“, concludes Janja in English.
