At the 308th Meeting of the Administrative Council of the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Zone (Suframa), the governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, who is a member of the autarchy, highlighted the need for integration and investments in all the states that make up the organization’s coverage area. The agenda took place this Friday, the 24th, in Amazonas, with the presence of the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin.

“The Industrial Pole is in Manaus, but the other Suframa states also need to be accommodated. We need to feel the benefits of Suframa funds in Amapá, Acre, Rondônia and Roraima as well. If there are investments in research and innovation, in infrastructure, and even in moving the Zona Franca Verde, we will have regionalized benefits and development as a consequence”highlighted Clecio Louis.

Implementing a regional agenda to expand the participation of the state’s productive sector in raising funds from lines of credit for financing development is one of the Government’s plans. Clécio also intends to implement an industrialization plan in Amapá, with a fund to structure an incentive, technology and funding agenda.

Advances for the Manaus Free Trade Zone

Manager of the largest geopolitical and economic model in the Amazon, Suframa is linked to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, and its mission is to maintain and strengthen the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), which includes the Macapá Free Trade Area and Santana.

The councilors of the autarchy, this Friday, approved 19 new industrial undertakings in the ZFM, which represent an investment of R$ 1.6 billion, with the generation of more than 1.6 thousand new jobs. The institution’s interim superintendent, Marcelo Pereira, stated that the regional model needs to regain prominence.

“The entire economic and social dynamic promoted by the ZFM has an impact on the activation of commerce, services and agriculture in the region. The strong free zone needs a strong Suframa, and the federal government can help us strengthen it. And Suframa will only fulfill its role if the other states besides Amazonas feel part of the Zona Franca model. It is up to us, the technical team and parliamentarians, to find a way to make this a reality.”pointed out Pereira.

Alckmin, who chaired the meeting, assured the Federal Government’s support for progress in the region through the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), which the vice-president holds. He added that it is necessary to invest in the areas of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, in an intelligent and sustainable way.

“The largest rainforest in the world is here, and preserved. The deforestation that has occurred comes from land grabbing, which we have to curb, providing an economic solution for employment and income for the entire region. Here there are countless opportunities for biotechnology, the carbon market, green hydrogen. Count on us. We want to make a difference with Suframa, with a biotechnology center, for the benefit of the Amazon, for the benefit of Brazil”he spoke Geraldo Alckmin.
