To the sound of mara bass, the 122nd Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Institutions of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education (Conif) was opened this Tuesday morning (9/5), in the auditorium of the Sacaca Museum, in Macapá-AP.
The ceremony was chaired by the Rector of the Federal Institute of Amapá (Ifap), Marialva Almeida, alongside the president of Conif, director of the Instituto Federal do Sertão de Pernambuco, Leopoldina Veras, by the dean of the State University of Amapá (UEAP), Katia Paulino, Secretary of State for Science and Technology, Edivan Barros, representing the governor Clecio Luis Vieira, and the dean of Research at the Federal University of Amapá (Unifap), Amanda Fecury.
Marialva Almeida highlighted the importance of bringing together the deans and deans of the institutions of the Federal Network in Amapá. “It is a historic milestone, a unique moment, compared to everything we have experienced at the Institute. And it demonstrates the identity of this network to which we belong, which is a network accessible to those who most need public education”, he stated. The meeting had as its first agenda the presentation of the Jaqueline Goes Institute, with a report by the Dean of the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), Luzia Mota. The Institute was presented by the researcher herself Jacqueline Goes, who coordinated the team responsible for sequencing the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus just 48 hours after the confirmation of the first case of Covid-19 in Brazil.
Graduated from the IFBA, Jaqueline Goes holds a degree in Biomedicine from the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health (EBMSP), a Master’s degree in Biotechnology in Health and Investigative Medicine from the Gonçalo Moniz Research Institute – Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (IGM-FIOCRUZ) and a PhD in Human Pathology from the Federal University of Bahia. Currently, she is an adjunct professor of the Biomedicine course and a researcher at the Research and Innovation Center at EBMSP.
The researcher explained that the Jaqueline Goes Institute hopes to expand the access of female racial minorities to academic and scientific spaces, accelerating and shaping their careers. The Institute’s idea is to seek partnerships for the development of tutoring, exchange programs, theoretical-practical scientific insertion and training in the English language, aimed at black and indigenous people who identify with the female gender, high school and college students. public services that meet the criteria of social vulnerability.
