Governor Clécio celebrates delivery of the new Civic Square in Santana – Diário do Amapá


The governor of Amapá, Clécio Luíscelebrated on Friday, the 27th, the delivery of the new Praça Cívica Francisco Nobre, the main one in the municipality of Santana. Completely renovated, the space once again provides leisure, entertainment and sports options for residents and encourages economic activity in the region.

“The people are reacquainting themselves with the civic square, one of the greatest symbols of this municipality, which has to do with the lives of many people. Santana was once the engine of Amapá’s economy and is becoming so again, through mineral activity, logistical conditions and the growth of startups. We are winning the war against organized crime and there is everything for the municipality to return to being a place of peace”, highlighted the governor.

Teacher, Clécio Luís He also praised the importance of professor Francisco Nobre, after whom Praça Cívica is named and whose student the governor was at Colégio Amapaense.

The work, which began in 2022, was carried out with resources from a parliamentary amendment by the senator Randolfe Rodriguesplus compensation from Santana City Hall.

“This square delivered is the spirit of Santana back, because this place has followed the evolution of the municipality. The aspects, from the memorial to the little train, highlight the importance here. The reopening symbolizes this encounter between the people of Santana and the place that is the soul of Santana”, pointed out the senator.

There are eight commercial points, accessible bathrooms, a fountain with a sign, a playground, a little train in honor of the Amapá Railway, and the acoustic shell for cultural presentations.

“A beautiful square that we delivered and, with this reopening, we end a cycle of renovation and construction in all squares in Santana. Public money is invested here for family leisure, to improve people’s lives. We thank the Government of Amapá for the garbage collection and urban cleaning agreements, which is a great partnership to do the best for everyone”, spoke Anderson Almeida, municipal secretary of Public Works and Services.

Opened in March 1978, the square was a demand from the population of the then district of Santana. In 1997, it began to pay homage to Francisco Corrêa Nobre, a pioneer who died the previous year and who lived in Santana for more than four decades, helping with the economic, social and political development of the city. He was also the first district agent in the region where the municipality is today, a “regatão” trader, and storekeeper at the Indústria e Comércio de Minérios Ltda (ICOMI) office in Santana.
