Government may publish “negative list” of irregular bets with justification
Minister Fernando Haddad, of Finance, stated that the ministry is considering publishing a type of “negative list” of irregular bets that were not approved by regulations and that will have access blocked. The possibility was mentioned on the same day that a list of provisionally approved platforms was published.
According to the minister, listing irregularities is a little more difficult and takes longer, as any refusal to operate must be legally justified.
“The secretary [Regis Dudena, de Prêmios e Apostas] is considering the possibility of releasing the list [negativa] eventually rejecting some requests that do not meet the requirements of the notice”, Haddad told journalists on Tuesday (1st).
Haddad said that hoping that this anticipation will help the government to deal more quickly with irregularities in the sector. The negative list will include companies that requested authorization by the last day of the deadline, but did not present the necessary documentation or proof of technical capacity.
According to the Ministry of Finance’s Betting Management System (Sigap), 180 companies sent 185 requests, 31 of which were filed on the last day. Sites that did not request authorization by September 30th will be able to remain online until October 10th, the deadline given for bettors to withdraw their money from these pages.
The minister also said that betting houses that are still in the accreditation process “will be able to remain in operation in compliance with the regulations, and if they do not become accredited by the end of the year or do not pay the grant, they will also go offline.” .
From October 11th, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) will block access to up to 600 illegal pages. In addition, the Treasury will routinely send the agency updates on companies that fail to comply with the rules.
