Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), opened a deadline this Tuesday (150th) for the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to comment on the request to oblige Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG ), to set up a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on the coup acts of January 8.

Notification is standard. The minister has already collected and received preliminary information from the Senate Advocacy and will now wait for the opinion of the PGR to make a decision.

The Federal Supreme Court has understood that the opening of CPI does not depend on the will of the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies or the Federal Senate. The ministers have been reaffirming the position that, once the constitutional requirements are met, such as the minimum number of signatures and the indication of a concrete fact to be investigated, there is no room to shelve the requests.
