He was hospitalized in August 2022, with an abdominal infection

Former federal deputy David Miranda died this Tuesday (9), in Rio de Janeiro, aged 37. The information was released by her husband, journalist Glenn Greenwald, on his profile on the social network Twitter.

Miranda had been hospitalized for nine months in an intensive care unit and, according to Greenwald, “died peacefully, surrounded by our children, family and friends.” The former parliamentarian was hospitalized in August 2022 due to inflammation and infection in the abdominal area.

A few weeks ago, Greenwald wrote on his blog that the infection quickly spread to other organs through his bloodstream.

“By far, David’s greatest dream, and the one that gave him the greatest pride and purpose, was to be a father. He was the most devoted and loving father. He taught me how to be a father. And our truly exceptional boys – with their own rough starts in life – are his greatest legacy,” Greenwald wrote on Twitter today.

David, would have turned 38 on Wednesday (10). He assumed his term as federal deputy in February 2019, replacing Jean Wyllys, who withdrew from taking office in the Federal Chamber. He held the post until his hospitalization in August 2022.
