Food and Culture Institute will launch program in MT – 03/24/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The Food and Culture Institute will launch, this Saturday (25), the “Kitchens and Childhood” training program in Chapada dos Guimarães (MT). According to its organizers, the idea is to promote knowledge on the subject through the history of food and the formation of Brazilian cuisine.

The initiative is carried out in partnership with the Public Ministry of MT and the local Municipal Secretary of Education. Around 60 representatives from nine metropolitan and rural early childhood education schools will participate in the course until June of this year.

“Instituto Comida e Cultura arrives here in Mato Grosso to feed, at the same time, the soul and knowledge of educators. Which, in turn, feed the soul and knowledge of our students”, says public prosecutor Leandro Volochk. “Kitchen with wisdom, seasoned with stories and affections, is a very successful recipe”, he adds.

The Food and Culture Institute has chef Bela Gil among its founders. “The Cerrado is our most threatened biome, and the project wants to propose to educators from the ‘heart of Brazil’ a reflection on the possibilities of healthier food systems based on a new food awareness”, she says, when talking about the initiative.

Journalist Oscar Pilagallo welcomed guests during the launch of his new book, “O Girassol Que nos Tinge: A History of Diretas Já, the Greatest Popular Movement in Brazil”. The event took place at the Martins Fontes bookstore, in São Paulo, on Tuesday (21). The editor Rita Mattar and the lawyer, writer and columnist for Sheet Luís Francisco Carvalho Filho were there.
