Flamengo 1 x 0 Athletico: result, goals and record
Conceding the goal at the end, the Athletico lost for 1 to 0 for the Flemish this Sunday (29) and reached the eighth round in a row without winning in Brasileirão 2024. The duel, held at Maracanã, ended the 28th round.
The best moments were in the first half. Zapelli demanded two good saves from goalkeeper Rossi, while Mycael saved a shot from Wesley. In the Cariocas’ best chance, the young goalkeeper did well on a move that Gabigol was offside. In the 45th minute of the second half, Gérson headed firmly after a cross from full-back Wesley, with no chance for Mycael.
The bad phase at Athletico continues. Furacão, who were eliminated from the South American Championship with a 4-1 defeat to Racing Club, are trying to find their way back in the second game with coach Lucho González, who arrived this week to replace the fired Martín Varini.
Furacão’s last triumph was 2-1 over Cuiabá on July 28, that is, two months ago. Since then, there have been five defeats (Grêmio, Juventude, Vasco, Palmeiras and Flamengo) and three draws (Internacional, Fortaleza, Criciúma).
On the other side, Flamengo fans, despite the victory, protested against Tite after half-time and at the end of the game.
- With the result, Athletico has 31 points in 15th place in the table. On the other hand, Flamengo occupies the 4th placement, with 48 points.
- Athletico returns to the field against Botafogo. The game takes place next Saturday (5), at 4:30 pm, at the Ligga Arena, in Curitiba. On the same day, but at 7pm, Flamengo visits Bahia.
