Feijoada on Fridays, the heresy of the Carioca governor of SP – 09/06/2023 – Cozinha Bruta

I have little or no sympathy for the current governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). Milico, friend of Beelzebub’s puppy, defender of the most reactionary agendas in politics.

That said, I have to admit that I agree with your decision to change the feijoada day at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes restaurant.

Until the Tarcísio administration, the dish was offered to servers and guests at lunches on Wednesdays – as is the tradition in restaurants in São Paulo. The new tenant of the palace has reallocated the feijoada on the menu on Fridays, as is customary in Rio.

A synapse of le and credit is enough to include the decision in the list of Rio de Janeiro governors from São Paulo. On account of ignorance and disdain for the habits of the state that elected him.

It is not a hypothesis to be ruled out. More likely, however, is that Captain Tarcísio was rational. Cariocas are more rational than Paulistanos when it comes to feijoada.

Feijoada causes the boa constrictor effect: its digestion takes up much of the blood that should irrigate the brain. Even if you don’t boa constrictor, if you don’t sleep in the afternoon, your intellectual performance will be impaired.

Good thing the circumstantial sluggishness occurs on Friday, when the work engines are slowing down.

But go convince a São Paulo native of this with hardened ideas.

São Paulo has a unique weekly itinerary of lunch dishes. On Mondays, facing São Paulo. Tuesday is steak à rolê day – it used to be tripe, but disgust has defeated it.

On Wednesday, of course, the feijoada that is repeated on Saturday.

Thursday is pasta day: spaghetti, gnocchi, with roast beef or stewed chicken. And the week ends with fish on Fridays, Christian to the pampas.

It is unique because all commercial restaurants repeat the script almost identically. I have not seen anything like this in any other city.

A very interesting cultural heritage, no doubt. It becomes a problem when it becomes dogma.

Some food traditions become sacred, irrefutable, and questioning them seems like heresy. Why not eat feijoada on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays?

The food dogmatism of the paulistano brings him closer to the Italians. In Italy, there is no cappuccino after noon, and pasta with meat is a New World abomination.

In Rome or Milan, however, it is absolutely normal to eat pizza early in the morning, for lunch, at any time. Not in São Paulo, where pizza is a kind of vampire that cannot see sunlight.

This type of purism only makes sense in the logic of groups that close themselves off within their own fads. I mean, it doesn’t make sense.

But let’s go back to the governor’s feijoada. Its going to Fridays left a gap in the Wednesday menu. And who filled it in? The turn to paulista on Mondays.

That’s too much, Tarciso. No excuses, bro. All that remains is to issue a decree forcing pizzerias to offer ketchup alongside olive oil.
