A professor of the nursing course at Unifap (Federal University of Amapá) was denounced by students on social networks after entering the classroom with a bottle of water glued with a Nazi symbol.

The case reached the management of the institution and, this Saturday (20), the Superintendence of Affirmative Actions and Human Rights of the institution released a repudiation note.

“We inform you that we are already adopting the administrative measures within the competence of this Superintendence to ensure a rigorous investigation of the facts publicly reported on social networks last Friday night”, says the document.

“Furthermore, we highlight our total repudiation of speeches in apology for Nazism which, in addition to being a crime, constitute a recognized attack against the dignity and rights of the human person”, continues the text.

The coordination of the nursing course also criticized the case and recalled that the apology of Nazism is a crime under Brazilian law.

Law 7716, of 1989, stipulates imprisonment from 2 to 5 years and a fine for anyone who “manufactures, sells, distributes or transmits symbols, emblems, ornaments, badges or advertising that use the swastika or swastika cross, for the purpose of disseminating Nazism” .

According to the coordination, “we cannot forget the horrors suffered by millions of Jews resulting from the actions of the German Nazi party”.

After the publication of the position, students asked the university to, in fact, proceed with the investigation.

The UNE (National Union of Students) also manifested itself. “The university needs to investigate urgently. The use of Nazi symbols is not freedom of expression, Nazism is a crime!”, wrote the entity in a post on Twitter.
