Federal government authorizes transfer of R$425.9 million for reconstruction of Salgado Filho
The MP was published in the Official Gazette of the Union, along with the credit authorization in favor of the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, Science, Technology and Innovation, Agrarian Development and Family Farming, and Ports and Airports, in addition to Official Operations of Credit, totaling R$1.65 billion.
The R$425.9 million was approved by the board of directors of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) on August 23 and depended on the consent of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, which was made official this Monday. At the time of approval by Anac, it was defined that, of the R$ 425.96 million, R$ 362.22 million would be allocated to the beginning of the reconstruction works at Salgado Filho Airport, while around R$ 63.94 million would be allocated to maintenance of airport activities until the work is completed.
Since May, the runway at the capital’s airport has not received flights due to the impacts of the historic flood that hit the State and Porto Alegre. The track remained almost completely covered by water for more than 20 days. From July onwards, reconstruction work began. The forecast is that around 130 daily flightsbetween arrivals and departures, are resumed in this first stage. On December 16, when international operations are reestablished, the runway will be fully operational, with a total length of 3,200 meters.
