Electoral MP recommends respect for the free movement of vehicles and people on the Macapá Waterfront – Diário do Amapá
The Electoral Public Ministry (MPE), through the prosecutor Ricardo Crispino Gomes, who works in the 2nd Electoral Zone of Macapá, issued a recommendation to all candidates for councilors and mayor, mayor and deputy, to political parties and federations or coalitions, that they refrain from carrying out any act of electoral propaganda, especially flagged ones, that may result in any difficulty or obstruction to the smooth movement of people and, mainly, vehicle traffic on the Macapá Orla, as well as public services provided in Beira Rio.
They must provide guidance to their employees and other participants in the electoral propaganda act on the City’s Edge, so that they avoid invading the carriageway of public roads, when carrying out flags, in order to avoid disturbance and obstruction in the circulation of vehicles, especially on Beira Rio Street, on weekends, when there is a greater concentration of car traffic.
According to the recommendation, non-compliance with the prohibitions may give rise to representation by the Electoral Public Ministry of the 2nd Zone against those responsible for non-compliance, with a request for conviction for the practice of irregular electoral propaganda, and, consequently, the imposition of a fine in the amount from R$2,000 to R$8,000, without prejudice to the investigation of any occurrence of abuse of economic or political power.
In the document, Ricardo Crispino records that last Sunday, September 22nd, the inspection team from the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office of the 2nd ZE of Macapá found a high concentration of people performing the famous flags on the Orla de Macapá, with larger crowds at the avenue’s roundabout Pedro Lazarino with Beira Rio street, and on Beira Rio street, close to Parque do Forte.
The team considers that these flags caused two serious situations in the city’s traffic: obstruction of the roads, with the occupation of the road lanes on Beira Rio Street, making the passage of vehicles extremely difficult, generating congestion and traffic jams and diversion of traffic in which vehicles were forced to divert to other routes, increasing travel time and the risk of accidents on adjacent roads.
For the team, Orla da Cidade, on Beira Rio Street, is one of the main tourist attractions, with several leisure attractions for Macapa society (and the entire state), and one of the most popular places on weekends, and that the way in which these flags have been carried out makes it impossible for the population to enjoy these potential sources of leisure, in addition to creating enormous inconvenience for those who need to travel around the region.
