Electoral judges limit the daily amount for withdrawals to R$5,000 from October 4th – Diário do Amapá
Ordinance signed by electoral judges Diego Moura de Carvalho (2nd Zone) and Eduardo Navarro Machado (10th Zone), considering the need to prevent illegal acts that could harm the normality and legitimacy of elections against the influence of economic power and the free exercise of voting in elections in the municipalities of Macapá, Itaubal and Cutias, limits bank withdrawals in cash made by an individual or legal entity to a daily value of R$5,000, in the period from October 4th to 8th, 2024.
The ordinance only excepts the payment of bills and agreements at banking institutions and correspondents, including self-service electronic terminals, in the municipalities of Macapá, Itaubal and Cutias. If there is a second round of elections, the limitation will also take place from October 25th to 29th.
According to the ordinance, if it is necessary to make withdrawals in a higher amount than expected, a request must be submitted to the electoral judges of the 2nd or 10th ZE, with the holder’s justification for the exceptionality.
Failure to comply with the provisions of the ordinance will subject the offender to the penalties of article 347 of the Electoral Code, without prejudice to other sanctions provided for in applicable electoral and common legislation.
