Dilma receives tribute from China’s dictator in Beijing
Former president Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016), current president of the BRICS New Development Bank (NBD), based in Shanghai, was honored this Sunday (29) by the Chinese dictatorship with the Friendship Medal, the main honor of the Asian country granted to foreigners.
She received the medal from dictator Xi Jinping, in a ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing. On the occasion, “heroes” of the Chinese people were also honored, such as senior officials of the communist regime, university students and military personnel, according to the state newspaper China Daily.
According to information from the state news agency Xinhua, reproduced by Agência Brasil, Dilma said she was “honored and proud to receive the Friendship Medal from a country that has an ancient history and that today has achieved such important achievements”.
“Hardly at any time in the past a country managed to transform itself into the second largest economy in the world in 75 years, the country that managed to raise the educational level of its people to compete with the levels of developed countries, [no país] which today leads in science and technology and in the application of innovations in all fields and areas, specifically in industry”, added Dilma, whose honor had already been confirmed in a decree published by the Chinese regime on the 13th.
“A great age calls for heroes and gives rise to heroes. As long as heroes emerge in large numbers, the Party [Comunista Chinês] and the people’s cause will prosper and endure,” Xi said.
Among the Chinese honored this Sunday was Huang Zongde, 93 years old, winner of the Medal of the Republic and veteran of the civil war won by the communists in 1949. This Sunday’s event marked 75 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, which will be completed on Tuesday (1st).
