Colombia, a traditional coffee exporter, continues to register a sharp drop in its production. In April, 566 thousand bags were produced, 25% less than the 750 thousand produced in the same month last year, according to data from the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (FNC). In the first quarter, the drop compared to 2022 is smaller: 6%.

Exports accompanied the retraction and fell by 15%, both in April and in the accumulated result for the year. The FNC attributes the reduction to increased rainfall in the coffee growing zone, after three years of the La Niña phenomenon, in addition to the rise in fertilizer prices.

GRAIN AWAITED AT THE COFFEE LAB

Coffee Lab, a pioneer coffee shop in São Paulo, keeps in its stocks a coffee that should be successful among coffee geeks. The capixaba grain enchanted Isabela Raposeiras, who even mentioned it as the best she had ever drunk this year. It is an arabica of the obatã variety produced by Valdeir Tomazini. The bad news is that the coffee shop managed only 30 kg of the bean. The good news: packages should be available on shelves and online stores by the end of the month.

FESTIVAL IN CENTER SP

In celebration of the National Coffee Day, the City of São Paulo holds the Coffee Festival in Triângulo SP, which takes place throughout this week in the central region. The program, which runs until Friday (26), will include lectures, workshops and tours, with the participation of large chains and smaller coffee shops. The list of participants and the full schedule are available on the City Hall website.
