COE and Rocam commanders are dismissed in Amazonas
The commander of the Special Operations Command (COE), captain Guilherme Navarro Barbosa Martins, and the commander of the Rondas Ostensivas Cândido Mariano (Rocam) platoon, lieutenant colonel Jackson Ribeiro dos Santos, were relieved of their command roles at the institution.
The Amazonas Military Police command accepted a recommendation notice from the prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for External Control of Police Activity (Proceap), Armando Gurgel.
The prosecutor’s recommendation to the general commander, Klinger Paiva, is that they be incorporated into administrative functions, that they be stripped of their weapons and the exercise of their functions while their conduct is investigated with the Directorate of Justice and Discipline (DJD-PMAM ).
The motivation for the prosecutor’s decision are videos that were released this week, which show excerpts from a meeting discussing actions to benefit candidate Brena Dianná.
According to the prosecutor’s recommendation notification, from the video it is possible to extract from the dialogues that the speeches record a relationship of actions aligned with Colonel Francisco Magno Judiss (now former commander of the 11th BPMAM Parintins), aimed at the use of military police force to acts of coercion or coercion of voters in that municipality in favor of a candidate for mayor in the election, also reporting the use of telephone recordings.
According to prosecutor Gurgel, it is an exceptional measure, given the urgency, dimension of the case and proximity to the electoral election in which the facts are contextualized.
In the early afternoon of this Wednesday (2), the general commander of the Military Police, Colonel Klinger Paiva, informed that, as soon as he received the notification from Proceap, he had already arranged the process of dismissing the officers.
