In order to advance and improve the capital’s infrastructure and urban mobility services, the City Hall of Macapá obtained approval, by majority vote, during a legislative session held in the Chamber of Councilors this Thursday (16), of the complementary bill No. 004/2023-PMM authorizing the Executive Branch to contract a credit operation with Banco do Brasil in the amount of 100 million reais.

The resource will continue the Urban Mobility Plan, aimed at infrastructure and sanitation: paving roads with superficial and deep drainage, sidewalks, signage, footbridges and others, mainly reinforcing the city’s mobility services.

Management capacity led the city hall to achieve an unprecedented feat in the CAPAG (Payment Capacity) of the National Treasury. Transparency in the application of public resources was assessed and changed from grade C to A, ensuring more advantageous conditions for obtaining credit from the Federal Government.

Chief Executive, Mayor Dr. Furlan, emphasizes that the balance of municipal accounts is fundamental to guarantee credit operations destined to structuring works in the capital.

“With the approval of the Chamber, the City Hall can now contract a credit operation of up to 100 million. It is of fundamental importance for us to expand the Urban Mobility Plan of Macapá. It shows that the homework of balancing the municipality’s accounts is being done, he detailed.

In addition, the funds invested in infrastructure works will guarantee, next year, the creation of around 1,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs, guaranteeing the City Hall a position as a vector of job generation through works in the construction sector. In addition to taking paving works to forgotten neighborhoods of the city, as has already occurred in these two years of management.

The mayor also explains that in relation to the financial health of the municipality, the grace period and the time for payment of the installments of this loan do not affect the economic capacity of the City Hall, nor does it compromise the fiscal balance. There is financial health and long-term debt capacity.

INVESTMENTS MADE IN TWO YEARS BY THE MANAGEMENT

In just over 2 years of management, Mayor Dr. Furlan prioritized urbanization services. There were more than 117 kilometers of roads already paved, in block, Bituminous Concrete Hot Machined (CBUQ), resurfacing and paving with double surface treatment (TSD).

In addition, the City Hall has already built more than 12,800 meters of sidewalks in the neighborhoods of Jardim Marco Zero, Santa Rita, Fazendinha, Coração, Renascer, Novo Horizonte, Trem, Zerão and Congós.

Walkways were 5,312.60 meters delivered in 2021, between mixed, concrete and wood. In 2022, 59.6 km of walkways were delivered, 51.8 km of which were wooden, 0.8 km concrete and 6.9 km mixed.

With financial support, planning is to advance even further, benefiting more neighborhoods and residents of the capital.

As for the grace period, interest rate and payment period will be evaluated for completion and contracting.
