The cause of death was not revealed. “The first two chapters of the LFO story lost a main character yesterday,” Fischetti wrote in the Instagram post. “Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis has passed away. I have no details and it would not be for me to share if I did. I am really struggling to process this tragic loss. I have said this before and will continue to say it; the LFO story is a tragedy . If you know what I’ve been doing, you know I’m trying to bring light to the darkness. Trying to find redemption in the pain and suffering. Trying to honor the legacy.” The pop trio formed in 1995 in Massachusetts as the Lyte Funkie Ones (LFO), before Gillis left the band in 1998 to pursue his own ventures and was replaced by Devin Lima. The group split in 2010 following the death of lead singer-songwriter Rich Cronin from leukaemia, then reunited without Gillis in 2017 as a duo with Lima and Fischetti. Lima died in 2018 after four years of treatment for cancer. Fischetti is the only surviving member of the group. The group’s pop-rap single “Summer Girls” became their biggest hit and was often called the song “The Abercrombie & Fitch” because of the popularity of the lyric “I like girls who wear Abercrombie & Fitch”. The song helped catapult 1999’s “LFO” album — which also included the hit single “Girl on TV” — to No. 21 on the Billboard 200.
