Brazil plays against Chile in the last friendly before the Women’s Football Cup – News of Brazil

The women’s national football team will play a final friendly in Brazil, against Chile, 22 days before the debut in the Women’s World Cup, in New Zealand and Australia. The CBF issued a note this afternoon (25) confirming the match, at 10:30 am (Brasília time) on July 2 (a Sunday), at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in the Federal District.

This year alone, the team, led by coach Pia Sundhage, took to the pitch five times. He opened the season in February, at the She Believes Tournament, when he lost two games – to the United States and Canada – and ended with a victory over Japan.

After the competition, in the United States, Sundage promoted tactical changes that were reflected in the performance of the Brazilians on the field, two months later. In the dispute for the title of the Finalissima, against England (European champion), there was little left for the selection to lift the cup in Wembley (London). They drew 1-1 in the final minutes of the match, forcing the definition of the game in penalty kicks, but then lost by 4-2. In the last FIFA Data duel in April, also away from home, the Brazilians dominated the selection Germany, European vice-champion, with a 2-1 victory.

Before the friendly against Chile, the Brazilian team will do two training periods in Brazil: from June 7th to 15th they will have physical training in Rio de Janeiro, and from June 19th to 25th they will participate in activities at Granja Comary, in the city of Teresópolis (RJ).

The opening of the World Cup will be on the 20th of July and Brazil will debut four days later against Panama, in Group F. Then the Brazilian team will measure forces with France, on the 29th, and close the group stage facing Jamaica on August 2, against Jamaica. All matches of the Brazilian national team in the initial phase will be in Australia.
