Brazil meets opponents in the Volleyball Pre-Olympics, in September – News of Brazil


The International Volleyball Federation (FIBV) this Friday (17) defined by lot the keys of the Pre-Olympic Volleyball tournaments (men and women), which define the first classifieds for the Paris 2024 Games.

The men’s team, which fell in Group A, will compete in Rio de Janeiro, one of the Pre-Olympic venues for men, from September 30th to October 8th of this year. The Brazilian women’s team, Olympic runner-up, is in Group B and will compete from September 16 to 24 in Japan, which hosts one of the women’s Pre-Olympics.

In the men’s dispute, the Brazilians will face the Italians, current world champions, at home. In addition to Brazil and Italy, Group A also has Iran, Cuba, Ukraine, Germany, Czech Republic and Qatar.

The Brazilian women’s team will face the Japanese hosts in Group B, as well as the teams from Turkey, Belgium, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Peru.

Major qualifying competitions for Paris 2024, the tournaments distribute two spots to the best placed in each gender. France, as the host country, already has a guaranteed spot and is out of the competition. For men, the Pre-Olympics will take place simultaneously in Rio de Janeiro, Japan and China. The women’s tournaments will be in Japan, China and Poland.

The Paris Olympics will bring together 12 teams of each gender. After the Pre-Olympics, the remaining spots will be defined by the placement of the teams in the FIVB ranking, after the preliminary phase of the 2024 League of Nations.
