CONMEBOL released this Wednesday (15), during a meeting of the CONMEBOL Council, in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, the table for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, which will have the United States, Mexico and Canada as host countries. As announced, the Brazilian team will debut in September, against Bolivia, with no specific date set yet. In the same month, he will also face Peru.

The dispute format will be the same as in previous editions, in consecutive points, with round trip matches between the ten teams. As CONMEBOL chose not to hold a draw to define the matches, the order of matches will be the same as in the Qualifiers for the Qatar Cup.

With the start of the race for a spot in the World Cup only in the second half of the year, the CBF is gaining time to close the hiring of the national team coach, currently led on an interim basis by Ramon Menezes. Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the entity, has a trip scheduled to Europe in April to try to advance in the negotiations for a new coach.

This year, in addition to the September games, Brazil will also have commitments for the Qualifiers in October, against Venezuela and Uruguay, and in November, against Colombia and Argentina. In June, there will be a Fifa Date for up to two friendlies. There will also be a novelty in the calendar, which will include two breaks for matches against European teams, in 2024. The forecast is for two games in March and another two in June.

With the change in the number of participants in the World Cup to 48 teams, the South American Qualifiers will give six direct places to the World Cup. The seventh-placed team will play in the repechage.
