The three students at Unisagrado, in Bauru, who published a video practicing age discrimination against a colleague dropped out of the biomedicine course.

The case had great repercussions on social networks in recent days after the students, identified as Bárbara Calixto, Beatriz Pontes and Giovana Cassalatti, all graduates of the course, released a video in which they made fun of the age of their classmate.

In the recording, one of them jokes: “Guys, quiz of the day: how do you ‘unenroll’ a classmate?”. Then the other one says: “Bro, she’s 40 years old now. She was supposed to be retired”. “Really,” declares a third.

The young woman recording the video says: “Guys, 40 years old can’t go to college anymore. I have this opinion”.
After the repercussions of the case, which raised the debate on ageism, Bárbara Calixto said she was sorry and declared that the video was a joke in bad taste.

Patrícia Linares, the student who suffered discrimination, received tributes from other Unisagrado colleagues. The institution also released a statement of repudiation and said it would take administrative measures.

According to the university, a disciplinary process was initiated and, during the analysis, the three students requested to withdraw from the course. “In this way, the process lost its object and therefore was finalized”, says the institution in a note.
