Not even the rain and cold weather on Sunday (28) kept the more than a thousand people from Amapá registered for the third edition of the Worker’s Race. The sporting event ended the Worker’s Month program, promoted by the Government of Amapá.

The runners participated in a 5.5-kilometer course starting and finishing at the Zerão Olympic Stadium, which has a state-of-the-art athletics track.

A amapaense Rafaela Dantas was the champion of the overall female category and, in addition to the medal, received a personalized trophy. She spoke excitedly about the route, the race and also returning to an athletics track.

“I really enjoyed the course of the race, even more for being able to step back on the athletics track at the Zerão stadium. The last time was in 2015, in a race promoted by the Government of Amapá. And I am also happy to have won this trophy, which is very beautiful.”said the runner.

The event was organized by the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel) in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Entrepreneurship (Seven). For the Secretary of Sedel, Rudney Cunha, sport is an important tool and brings benefits to physical and mental health.

“We all know how important sport is for our health. But few know how much sport also helps in the social sphere, reflecting on school and professional life. There are studies that show how much the practice of physical activity helps people to be more proactive and, consequently, more productive in their work”said the manager.

Throughout the month of May, Sete carried out the Worker’s Caravan at various points in Macapá, offering free citizenship, health and professional training services.

“We took the Caravan to the four points of the capital. In the last action alone, which was on the 27th, in the Marabaixa neighborhood, we carried out more than a thousand assistance. This shows how important it was to bring these services closer to the population”concluded the secretary of Sete, Hezekiah cosOK.

The race returned after three years without holding the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The last edition took place in 2019, in the North Zone of Macapá.
